To get the most out of your investment into Oracle Primavera tools, it is paramount that you remain up to date and secure with your environment. Additionally, many clients are committed to maintaining the latest versions and to apply the most up to date security patches to their software to ensure their compliance with IS standards (ISO 27001, ISO 9001, Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus). This can often be a complicated and time-consuming process for organisations to follow and adhere to.
Oracle periodically releases Critical Patch Updates (CPU) to address any potential security vulnerabilities. These patches address vulnerabilities in Oracle code and third-party components included in Oracle products, or to address attempts to maliciously exploit vulnerabilities for which Oracle has already released security patches. It has been reported that attackers have been successful because targeted customers had failed to apply available Oracle CPU updates.

When it comes to Oracle SaaS solutions, you need to consider how you approach the release of functionality upgrades and bug fixes. Oracle typically offer two release paths for Primavera solutions.
Clients under either path are required to remain within 2 versions of the latest Generally Available (GA) version. Clients may proactively request monthly updates to the GA version by submitting a My Oracle Support (MOS) Service Request (SR). Clients be warned, if you do not request an update and are currently on GA -3 version Oracle will schedule an update to the GA version. Clients, under a HPS wrapper service can change (once a year) from the LER to SSR by following a simple request to Oracle.
Oracle SaaS infrastructure maintenance is roughly scheduled four times a year and is communicated to client well in advance. All maintenance and upgrade work are scheduled for out of office hours, i.e., overnight or weekends.
HPS’s wrapper service can include regression testing and acceptance testing for new versions of your SaaS application. This service includes review of new features to see if they offer an opportunity for a client solution improvement, assessment of retired features and any impact on the current client solution as well as testing to ensure existing functionality is maintained.
